mothers2mothers International (m2m) reports that it works with governments, local partners, and communities to empower mothers and improve reproductive, newborn, and child healthcare. The organization employs and trains women living with HIV as community health workers called Mentor Mothers, who work in healthcare facilities and perform house calls in surrounding communities. Services provided include: testing, treating, and providing health education and peer support to women living with HIV; reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child healthcare; early childhood development services, pediatric HIV care and ongoing support; and adolescent health and youth development where peer mentors provide support and promote sexual and reproductive health services; and health services and education for diseases that pose a greater risk to individuals living with HIV, such as cervical cancer, malaria, and tuberculosis.
