Stated Purpose
"to improve the quality of life of honorably discharged veterans who have spinal cord injury, dysfunction or illness including but not limited to multiple sclerosis and ALS (Lou Gehrig?s disease) through advocacy, medical research, sports and recreation, education and communication."
Paralyzed Veterans of America Buckeye Chapter (PVA Buckeye) reports that it operates in the state of Ohio and assists veterans with spinal cord injuries or disease, including multiple sclerosis and ALS. The organization helps disabled veterans receive their VA benefits, partners with four Ohio hospitals to ensure proper medical care is given to disabled veterans, and distributes information for disabled veterans and its members regarding chapter programs, emergency assistance relief, and legislation affecting chapter members and the disabled community at large. PVA Buckeye also holds adaptive sports competitions and offers recreational activities. In 2019, the organization states that it had 481 members, with 271 having a service connected disability.
