"to grow in holiness and build a more just world through personal relationships with and service to people in need."
The National Council of the United States, Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) provides resources to its member local chapters (councils and conferences) to help increase their service capacity. Current principal programs include Spiritual Formation, Friends of the Poor and Systemic Change grants, International Twinning, disaster relief services, operational support, fundraising assistance, and communications. Spiritual Formation provides paths that help Vincentians to grow in holiness through their work. SVDP provides training at all levels of spiritual development. The Friends of the Poor grant program provides grants to local conferences for emergency assistance in preventing eviction and utility shut offs as well as providing food, clothing, and other basic need services. Systemic Change grants aid local councils and conferences with projects aiming to help individuals out of poverty. International Twinning services provide opportunities to financially partner with SVDP conferences in foreign countries. Disaster services provide disaster relief grants to local councils and conferences to respond to immediate needs and long-term recovery through Disaster Services Corporation-SVDP USA and the International Confederation of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
