Cross Catholic Outreach meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Cross Catholic Outreach (CCO) is a relief and development ministry providing food, shelter, medical care, water, education, self-help programs, care for orphans, and emergency relief to poor families around the world through a network of dioceses, parishes and Catholic missions already in place overseas. The organization reports that its approach is cost-effective and allows Cross Catholic Outreach to empower Catholic leaders and their ministries by supplying the resources they need to sustain their outreaches. CCO regularly supplies food to feeding programs, medicines to clinics, and construction materials to ministries engaged in home-building projects. When selecting ministry partners, CCO encourages its partners to work toward self-sufficiency in the families and communities they serve. To that end, CCO funds agricultural and livestock projects and helps partners set up micro-loans to encourage the creation of small businesses in poor communities. As reported by the organization, the fundraising approach CCO uses to help the poor links donors in the U.S. with specific projects overseas, and the charity routinely provides follow-up reports about the impact these donations achieve. In 2019, CCO supplied cash grants or distributed material aid through nearly 140 different Catholic ministry partners in more than 25 developing countries around the globe. The organization reports that most recently CCO has engaged in large-scale community transformation projects to transform entire areas materially and spiritually.
