National Children's Cancer Society (NCCS) reports that it provides direct financial assistance to children with cancer and their families within the United States and distributes donated pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to medical centers in countries with less advanced treatment facilities. Direct assistance includes emotional support and advocacy education to parents and caregivers, financial assistance for travel and lodging while a child is in treatment, and an annual stipend for families who have a child in treatment away from home for more than 15 consecutive days. Some ($1,356,289 or 5%) of NCCS' program activities are carried out in conjunction with fundraising appeals.
