Free Wheelchair Mission meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.
Free Wheelchair Mission (FWM) delivers manufactured wheelchairs, mobility aids, and supplies to people living with disabilities in developing nations. The wheelchairs arrive in a country to pre-approved distribution partners. The partners clear the container through customs, pay any duties and tariffs incurred in the importation, and arrange for overland transport and distribution of the wheelchairs to local recipients. Recipients are given training and materials on the proper use and maintenance of their wheelchairs, as well as contact information for the distribution partners should the need for repairs or any questions arise. In the year ended June 30, 2021, the organization reports that it provided wheelchairs to 47,556 people in 30 countries.
