Stated Purpose
"to serve the poorest of the poor internationally by channeling aid through existing churches or church-based ministries, cost-effectively helping the poor while advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
CI provides food, clothing, clean water, medicines, medical treatment, childcare, education, housing and self-help opportunities to people suffering from extreme poverty. The organization also engages in relief and recovery efforts in response to disasters such as the humanitarian crisis caused by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. In addition, CI carries out micro-enterprise programs and other long-term development efforts aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty. All of the organizations efforts are carried out through existing church-based ministries and programs serving the poor in countries across the Caribbean, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Furthermore, the organization educates Christians in the United States via radio, special events, church presentations, online resources and other media opportunities about the needs of the poor overseas, and highlights a biblical basis for responding to that poverty.
