Stated Purpose
"to ensure inclusive, quality educational opportunities for all military-connected children affected by mobility, transition, deployments, and family separation. "
The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) offers programs for students, parents, and professionals to address the educational and emotional needs of military and veteran-connected youth. The School Campus Student Programs support military and veteran-connected children through peer-to-peer mentoring by bringing military and civilian students together to welcome new students, support academics, and ease transitions as students pass in or out of schools. The organization's parent programs provide parent workshops that address academic, social, and emotional issues associated with a military family lifestyle. MCEC offers professional development for educators, youth-serving professionals, and parents to address the challenges facing military-connected children. The organization also holds the National Training Seminar (NTS) which offers training for the aforementioned groups. Lastly, MCEC provides school districts that serve high populations of military-connected youth with a transition consultant to assist families with transition issues. In 2019, the organization reports its student programs impacted over 72,000 students, the parent programs reached over 34,000 participants, and the professional development program trained over 1,500 professionals.
