Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (OCRA) reports that it works to advance research to prevent, treat and defeat ovarian cancer and to support women and their families before, during, and beyond diagnosis. The organization focuses its work in three areas: funding research, advocating for patients, and supporting survivors. OCRA-funded researchers work to uncover new science to treat, prevent, and ultimately cure ovarian cancer. The organization's peer-to-peer patient support program, Woman to Woman, pairs newly diagnosed patients with survivors who have already been through the fight. Additionally, OCRA's patient support helpline helps women navigate their diagnosis and provides support, guidance, and resources. The organization hosts the Ovarian Cancer National Conference which brings survivors together to connect, share their stories, and learn about new developments in research and treatment. OCRA also advocates for resources and policies and helps educate future health professionals through their Survivors Teaching Students program by bringing survivors into the classroom to share their stories of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
