"to identify the most accomplished young artists in the visual, literary and performing arts and to provide them with creative and professional development opportunities and support throughout their careers."
National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) reports that it works to find and nurture young artists in the visual, literary, and performing arts. Through annual programs, performances, and partnerships with cultural institutions, YoungArts aims to create a community of alumni and a platform for a lifetime of encouragement, opportunity, and support. The organization's main program is an application-based award for emerging artists ages 15-18 or in grades 10-12 across the United States. Selected through a blind adjudication process, the winners receive support, including financial awards of up to $10,000, professional development, and educational experiences working with mentors. Additionally, winners are eligible for nomination as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, an honor for high school students who exemplify academic and artistic excellence.
