CASA Of Larimer County, Inc. meets the 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

Stated Purpose:
"to advocate for safe, nurturing, and permanent connections to family and community so children who have experienced abuse and neglect have the opportunity to thrive."

Year, State Incorporated:
1987, CO

CASA of Larimer County operates two programs, The Family Connections program for supervised visitation and the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. The Family Connections program allows families to enjoy meals together, play outside, work on art projects, and continue making memories in a place that feels like home while the safety of the child is our utmost priority. The program also offers Nurturing Parenting Program (NPP) to support parents during supervised visitations.  NPP is an evidence-based program that strengthens families by teaching positive parenting skills and has been proven effective in preventing the recurrence of child abuse and neglect.  The addition of NPP to its supervised visitation program aims to help reduce the length of services and the need for return services.

The CASA program recruits, trains, and supports volunteers to be consistent, safe adults for children healing from abuse or neglect. CASA volunteers are sworn-in by the Chief Judge to be the eyes and ears of the Court to help determine the best interests of the child(ren). In a system with high caseloads, a CASA volunteer is assigned to one case at a time. The CASA see the child(ren) weekly and are often the person who knows the needs and perspectives of the child best. CASA volunteers provide court reports, speak in court, advocate for current needs and home placements, and use quarterly wellbeing assessments to direct or track advocacy efforts. Wellbeing assessments help program staff identify current community needs or gaps in services, targeted training for volunteers, and the program's effectiveness at impacting short term outcomes for children in foster care.
